I'm not even convinced that any full featured 4+ in, 1/2 Monoprice HTP-1 will be amazing and you would not hear a huge difference with Macintosh. I use Arcam AVR20 and that is an amazing unit now after most of the bugs being fixed. Maybe you can look into Arcam/JBL/Audiocontol as well?

I played a -120 dBFS 1000 Hz test tone through the HTP-1 and heard it through my speakers without any issue.
